COVID-19 Protocols

Community Music School is following the guidance of the CDC, NCDHHS, Longleaf School of the Arts and Wake County Public Schools as we navigate COVID. These regulation have the potential to change frequently and we will continue to read and follow the latest research, implement new protocols, and respond to any concerns.

The health and safety of our families, faculty and staff are our highest priorities. Below are the following precautionary measures that we will be implementing for all age groups.

Masks

Masks are recommended but not required for all staff, students and visitors to Community Music School.

Masks are required following being positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 Health Check

ALL CMS STAFF, FAMILIES, STUDENTS AND THEIR HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS MUST CONDUCT A DAILY HEALTH SCREENING BEFORE COMING TO ANY LESSONS OR SPONSORED PROGRAMS HELD IN ANY LOCATION.

SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, are:

  • Fever (of 100.4F or higher) or chills*
  • New cough*
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing*
  • New loss of taste or smell*
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Exhibiting at least one of the symptoms denoted with a star (*) or a combination of at least two of the other listed symptoms will exclude an individual from Community Music School with the classification of having “COVID-19 symptoms.” Should you or any household member exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, we ask that you remain out of the building that day and promptly notify Community Music School administration.

How Will Community Music School Respond To A Suspected or Confirmed COVID-19 Case?

Community Music School will work in coordination with the Wake County Health Department and NCDHHS in the event of a positive COVID-19 case in a classroom or in our CMS community. CMS may need to temporarily dismiss a class/classes if a student or faculty/staff member attended class before being confirmed positive for COVID-19. This dismissal allows time for the Wake County Health Department and NCDHH to investigate the COVID-19 situation impacting the school and for custodial staff to clean and disinfect the affected facilities. Some classes may be conducted online during this timeframe.

Returning to Community Music School AFter COVID-19 Diagnosis, Exposure or Illness

Community Music School follows the Wake County Public School System policy regarding when students may return to school. View https://www.wcpss.net/covid19 for requirements to return after a COVID-19 diagnosis, exposure, or symptoms.
