  • 2024 marks 30 years of inspiring youth through access to high-quality music instruction. Community Music School started in 1994 with 16 students, and this year we had 256 enrolled! In 30 years, more than 3,000 students have had the joy of brighter futures through music.
  • Our commitment to both high quality and access sets us apart from other music school options in Wake County. Community Music School offers weekly music lessons for one dollar, provides instruments and repairs at no charge, and creates opportunities for students to experience inspiring performances, such as this one tonight.
  • This type of creativity is a joy to witness. At Community Music School we believe that music is foundational to every young person’s development. We know that children who have access to quality music education score higher on standardized tests, have larger vocabularies, stronger reading skills, and higher self-esteem.
  • They are more likely to stay engaged in school, graduate, and pursue higher education. We have seen this impact on Community Music School students and their families. We want more young people in our community to have this opportunity.
  • At Community Music School, weekly tuition is just $1 and instruments are supplied free of charge for students’ use. Paid professional faculty are dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to the life-changing benefits of music education.
  • Music lessons shouldn't only be for those who can afford it.
